(August 17, 2021 / Little Rock, AR) Executive Director Dillon Hupp has announced that the ACANSA Arts Festival of the South, scheduled to resume in September, 2021, is now scheduled for March, 2022. The 2020 Festival was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the regional resurgence of Covid-19 has forced ACANSA to postpone the 2021 events. More than a dozen performing arts groups or solo artists were scheduled to perform in multiple venues.
“The overwhelming prominence of Covid-19 in Arkansas has become a source of concern for September’s audiences, performers, venues and ACANSA staff and volunteers. After considering multiple options and consulting with stakeholders and the artists who would be arriving from across the U.S., we’ve determined that rescheduling the Seventh Annual ACANSA Arts Festival of the South is the most prudent approach,” said Dillon Hupp, ACANSA’s Executive Director. “With this postponement, we look forward to adding even more events in the Festival format, including the Charlotte Gadberry Award Presentation.”
One event – a co-production of STEEL MAGNOLIAS with Argenta Community Theater – is currently scheduled to continue during September. Patrons should consult argentacommunitytheater.org for more information about the organization’s Covid protocol for performances. ACANSA will honor all other tickets that have been purchased for September events for the rescheduled Festival dates of March 10 – 31, 2022. The 2019 ACANSA Arts Festival of the South welcomed more than 7500 patrons from 50 Arkansas communities and eight states.
