2018 ACANSA FESTIVAL OPENING FT. A ROWDY FAITH Date: September 18Time: 5:30 pmLocation: The Butler CenterTickets: Free Admission ACANSA kicks off its fifth annual festival at the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies.  All galleries will be open, including the Loft Gallery with an exhibition by the Arkansas Arts Center. Entertainment will be provided by “A Rowdy Faith”.

MILKDRIVE Date: September 18Time: 7:30 pmLocation: Ron Robinson TheaterTickets: $20 Following the Festival Opening, join us for a performance by “MilkDrive”.  This Austin-based acoustic power team features four young players who will be doing things with their instruments that seem impossible for normal humans. Skilled multi-instrumentalists MilkDrive delivers a distinctive acoustic experience that crosses genres, geographies and generations with a progressive blend of bluegrass, jazz, and folk.

STEVE AZAR AND THE KINGS MEN Date: September 19Time: 7 pmLocation: Ron Robinson TheaterTickets: $25 If you are a fan of the delta blues, you are in for a special treat.  The Kings Men, a group of musicians who backed B.B. King, Elvis Presley and other musical Kings are joined by Steve Azar an award winning singer and songwriter from Greenville, Mississippi with a unique and soulful sound.  They will be performing songs from their album “Down at the Liquor Store”.

This acapela group, featured on "The Sing-Off," creates its own mashups of current pop songs, Disney songs and even the legendary rock band Queen. “VoicePlay” can do it all, even without instruments.

This actor and comedian made his way in New York doing shows weekly. Come have a laugh with one of New York’s best comics with ACANSA this fall!

THE UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE TOURING COMPANY Date: September 20-21Time(s): 7 pm on September 208 pm on September 21Location: Argenta Community TheaterTickets: $30 The “Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company” (UCB Tour Co) brings laughter to all with captivating improv performances and powerful, fun filled workshops. Amy Poehler is one of four founding members. Together with Little Rock native Matt Besser, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh, the dynamic team joined forces in Chicago and set out for New York to bring laughter and light through their improv & sketch comedy.

This powerful play captures the struggle, strife and journey of the “student-warrior” during the Civil Rights movement in Little Rock, Arkansas. ACANSA is excited to introduce a piece of art that will inspire the audience and educate them on the hosting of Little Rock and the country as a whole.

How exciting to have traditional jazz music kick off the newest venue in Little Rock! Chuchito Valdes will bring what the Chicago Tribune describes as “excitement, athleticism” to the Rail Yard as he makes jazz music come to life for his listeners.
